An examination of early Buddhist reductionism suggests that reductionism entails a number of metaphysical commitments, such as an extremely nominalistic semantics, a theory of truth that distinguishes ultimate and conventional truths, and an ontological commitment to the ineffable pure particular as ultimately real.
