BRAKE FLUID
Flushing the brake system with fresh fluid may sound like maintenance overkill, but if the old fluid is contaminated with moisture, the benefits of flushing are clearcut. While not all makers recommend periodic flushing, it's pretty much standard procedure in Europe.
But flushing the hydraulic system always has been a tough sell in this country, and since antilock brakes became popular, a related fear developed-that debris from the master cylinder would find its way into the ABS hydraulic control unit solenoid valves and affect their operation.
