A pair of boys who were praised Sunday for evading a potential kidnapping at a St. Paul playground were caught lying a day later as they retold their story to investigators, police said.
The attempted abduction never happened, it turned out, and a man who spent a night in jail as a result of the boys' tale was let go Monday evening without charges, said Paul Schnell, police spokesman.
