Warshafsky endures
Barry Warshafsky will gladly admit that his record 12th New England Bowlers Association championship was a very welcome stroke of good luck.
The Lowell pro shop operator, who feared that he may have suffered a debilitating stroke three weeks ago, felt fortunate just to be able to bowl in Sunday's tournament at New Bedford's Wonder Bowl.
"I lost the use of my right arm for six hours," revealed the 48-year-old Warshafsky following his emotional 255-209 title-match triumph over New Bedford's Pete Arruda. "I had a stroke warning, that's what I call it."
