IN March 1916 Percy Marks, a Sydney solicitor and Councillor of the Society, wrote to the Honorary Secretary, Karl Cramp, proposing the concept of Fellowship of the (then) AHS and enclosing draft rules. The revised roles, adopted in August 1916, provided for the bestowing of Fellowships on members who `have rendered valuable service in advancing the knowledge of Australian History and in furtherance of the objects of the Society'.
