Oversized bells made of glass can serve as attractive chandeliers that can improve the appearance of historical dwellings. With the appearance of electricity, bell jar lanterns were fitted with silver or brass stems containing wires and bulb housings. Such jars, which are often engraved and are found in amber or amethyst colors, can be acquired from antique dealers and shops.
