The distribution of Chesapeake Bay submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV), or bay grass, increased to 69,126 acres baywide, according to data released recently by the Chesapeake Bay Program. Acreage increases in the upper and lower portions of the bay were mostly offset by the loss of bay grasses in the middle portion of the bay, resulting in a one percent baywide increase over previous measurements.
