CHELMSFORD - A Boston and Maine Corp. executive has accused a railroad union of trying to start a controversy over the death of a high school runner killed by a train last month. Donald Silk, an engineer for Guilford Transportation Industries Inc., was driving a single locomotive along Boston and Maine lines near Route 3 in Chelmsford on Dec. 30 when a team of runners crossed the track, said Chelmsford Police Officer Patrick Daley.
