In two unrelated moves, Baker & Taylor has let go some 20 employees from a variety of positions in its books, video and software divisions and is reorganizing its book-buying operations.

The cutbacks were made the week of March 21, primarily in headquarters and staff support personnel. Among the casualties best known in the bookselling world: Harriet Pierce, director of retail marketing, and Hal Hager, editorial director of publications. Another 20 positions that have been empty will not be filled. B & T has about 2500 employees.
