ON OCTOBER 20, a day later than planned, Barnes & Noble opened its largest superstore ever, on Broadway near Lincoln Center in New York City. The store has 60,000 square feet of retail space, 200,000 book titles, 50,000 music CDs and cassettes and a combination Starbucks cafe/newsstand that stocks 3500 newspapers and magazines, making it one of the largest newsstands in New York.
