Barnes & Noble CEO Len Riggio vehemently denied a recent story in the London Observer stating that B & N had approached the Pentos Group, the financially troubled owners of the Dillons, Hatchards and Claude Gill bookstores, "about a joint venture to build up a chain of book superstores in the U.K." The contact was supposedly made via Marvin Traub, former head of Bloomingdale's, who is now a retailing consultant.
