B & N Acquires Former Trademark, Changes Corporate Name BDB Corporation, parent company of Barnes & Noble Bookstores and B. Dalton Bookseller, announced a change in its corporate name to Barnes & Noble Inc. after securing rights to the Barnes & Noble Publishing trademark from HarperCollins.
With the reacquisition of its namesake publishing trademark, the bookstore chain also announced plans to expand its publishing and reprint program. Currently, its Dorset Press imprint, which specializes in history, academic and reference subjects, has more than 200 titles in print.
