ABSTRACT Hyperaccumulalors are essential for phytoremediation of heavy metals. In Europe and North America, many studies have been conducted to find more effective plants for phytoremediation of various pollutants. In Japan, this field of research has just recently come more into focus. A type offern in Japan, Athyrinm yokoscense, is well known as a hyperaccumulator of Cd and Zn.
