Germany and France have made the mistake repeatedly of appeasing Iran and expecting rational responses. Iran is a terrorist state committed to murdering its opponents, and the only way it may be persuaded into forsaking terrorism is by prosecution of its practitioners.

HEAR the words national interest, and beware: they nearly always mean that someone is trying to get away with something. When a country that sponsors terrorism is being appeased "in the national interest", be doubly suspicious. Someone is probably trying to get away with murder.
