TIME WAS when the compilers of anthologies were generalists. They based their selections on quality (The World's One Thousand Best Poems) or personal taste (Reading I've Liked), popularity (A Treasury of the Familiar) or preciousness (Pebbled Brooks and Crystal Drops).
