Byline: Jessica Au Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is out roaming the dark streets of 18th-century Paris when something catches his nose. Sniffing the air, he follows the intoxicating aroma down a deserted alley to find that it belongs to a young girl sitting at a table peeling plums. Grenouille creeps up behind her; the girl turns around, startled to find him smelling her hair. Before she has a chance to scream, he drags her off into the shadows and impulsively strangles her.
