Americans quickened their pace during the 1920s, traveling by automobile, talking via telephone and dancing to jazz.

One small McHenry County town also was affected by changes the decade brought. Farmers and flappers, city families, Bohemian immigrants, and entrepreneurs eyeing money-making opportunities found their way to Fox River Grove during the 1920s.
