China started experimental research of aminosulfonic acid in the 70's and commenced small-scale production in the late 80's. The units at that time had a capacity of 1 000 t/a. The capacity of the biggest unit is still more than 1 000 t/a today, and the total capacity is less than 10 000 t/a.

The capacity of aminosulfonic acid in China was around 8 000 t/a in 1997 and the output was around 6 000 tons. The table shows the capacity and output of aminosulfonic acid producers in China.
