IT'S A RAINY SPRING EVENING and Portland, Oregon's, Barb Pallari wants nothing more than to settle in with a good book. But it's practice night for the Amazon Dragons dragon boat team, so she heads down to the Willamette River. With 20 other lesbians, she paddles a heavy, ornate boat out into the river, fighting currents, whipping winds and pelting rain.
