A WEEK is a very long time indeed in Irish politics, two weeks a lifetime. Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Albert Reynolds recently visited the U.S. for the annual Friends of Fianna Fail fundraiser and was acclaimed for his extraordinary work on behalf of peace in Northern Ireland.
Following his heroic progress in the U.S., one could likely have got odds of 100/1 that the Taoiseach would be ignominiously replaced so soon after his return to Dublin.
But replaced he was, after a political firestorm so fierce that it threatened...
