Albert Herring in Margate

In any country which really cared for the arts, the demise of Kent Opera would simply not have happened. The rise of New Kent Opera, which has given its second Annual Festival at the Theatre Royal in Margate, shows you can't keep a good thing down, and Tim Carroll's life-enhancing production of Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring on 16 September was as good if not better than anything the earlier company achieved.
