George Marshall Foundation Pres. and CEO Albert Beveridge believes that the impetus for the Marshall Plan was both self-interest and humanitarian interest on the part of the US. The initiative was deployed to rebuild the war-torn economies of Europe and to facilitate cooperation among European countries.
