A note was recently published in Medium Aevum which claimed to have discovered a connection between Alain de Lille's 'De Arte Praedicatoria' and the prologue to 'Patience.' However, this connection was first suggested in passing by Attila Faj in an article in English Miscellany of 1975-6. The relation between 'De Arte Praedicatoria' and 'Patience' was explored in great detail by Francis Cairns in a 1987 article in Studia Neophilologica.
