Last year's state diving champion, Victor Paguia of Lake Forest, has a leg up on the rest of the field after the first eight dives at New Trier in the state meet preliminaries on Friday.
Paguia (323.2) has a sizable lead over Oliver DiBlasi from Waubonsie Valley (300.7), Devin Aikins of Libertyville (300.15), Dan Rybalko of Niles West (287.35) and Adam Freeman Barrington (285).
"I am very comfortable being here," said Paguia. "I do have some space. My last three dives I had were good scores in a row."
