Truck manufacturers are increasingly assuming the role of tutor when it comes to aerodynamics in Europe, with Volvo being a prime example.
Volvo AB has just completed a high-profile experiment with two working trucks to promote Fuel Watch, a fuel-efficiency consultancy service it offers.
Swedish haulage firm Borje Jonsson was chosen to participate in a four-month test, which saw Volvo attempt to improve the efficiency of a couple of its FH12 tractors. The drivers, based at the operator's Hamburg, Germany, depot, were placed in Volvo's fuelefficiency driving course.
