The show, based on the novel by Elmore Leonard, brings us some of the nuttiest backwoods characters since Sheriff Harry S. Truman and Agent Dale Cooper looked into the murder of Laura Palmer. An incest-ridden family wearing identical black-framed glasses, the ghost of a slave girl, a channeling palm reader...
