The Hispanic supporters of Bell Multi-Cultural High School have fought long and hard for a cafeteria, a gymnasium, an auditorium and a little respect. But it wasn't until the street disturbances in the school's neighborhood one year ago tonight that anyone appeared to pay attention. Even Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly came to Bell and promised to make changes. Twelve months later, nothing has changed at the red-brick school tucked in the heart of Columbia Heights. No gymnasium.
