Byline: Chad Brooks Daily Herald Staff Writer The nearly two-month search for a runaway white German shepherd has come to a sad end. Lily, a 2 1/2-year-old white German shepherd that has been on the run since March 16 in the North and Northwest suburbs, was found by animal control officers in Lake Forest Tuesday, the apparent victim of an auto accident. "She was probably hit by a car," said Mark Echterling, director of Echo Dogs White Shepherd Rescue and the man who was leading the rescue efforts.
