A 3,000-pound, 28-foot canoe hewn out of a single cottonwood trunk floated this week into Atchison, Kan., under the power of five conservation officers from Missouri and Kansas. This bit of theater provided a historic backdrop for the seventh annual Missouri River Natural Resources Conference.
