Marilyn Taylor did everything late in life.

She got married late, gave birth to her son when she was older, and did not start writing poetry until she took a master's level course on literary stylistics when she was in her 30s. In fact, she didn't even know until then that she wanted to write poetry; her earlier career had been as an advertising copy writer in Chicago.
