Ask bakery owner Alex Bambara to name the best thing about opening his new bakery, Panetier, and he utters just two words: Del Ray. "I love this neighborhood," he says, the emotion audible in his voice. "I want to put up a big sign that says, 'Thank you, Del Ray.' The people here, they are so wonderful." The cozy neighborhood in Alexandria evidently feels the same way about him, judging by the steady stream of customers on a first-name basis with the slim, affable baker.
