A Middle Bronze Age settlement excavated at Isleham, Cambridgeshire, England yielded a miniature antler bow. The artefact does not show evidence that it had even been strung for use as it did not have any notch to hold the bowstring. It is also considered a valuable find since not too many bows seem to have been preserved, although numerous arrowheads have been found. Of the few that were found in bogs, these were made of wood and measure the height of a person. Scholars speculate that the antler bow, too small to use for hunting or warfare, may have had ceremonial functions.
