The people milling through the busy lobby of the Marriott-Copley Place hotel were the usual mix of tourists in Bermuda shorts and businessmen looking serious, so the man with the top hat stood out. He was tall and slim and wasn't formally dressed -- his T-shirt said "EAT" -- but he was carrying a large wood and leather box and a top hat.
