DR. SHELAGH WEIR gave a fascinating talk on "The Symbolism of Palestinian Embroidery and Costume" co-sponsored with the Mosaic Foundation, at the Palestine Center, on Nov. 27. Christ'l Safieh, wife of the PLO representative to the United States, introduced her friend, Dr. Weir, the former curator for Middle East Ethnography at the Museum of Mankind (British Museum). She described Dr. Weir's work organizing two major exhibitions of Palestinian costumes and textiles and writing numerous best-selling books on Palestinian embroidery for the British Museum.
