According to a recent Gallup Poll, blacks are the most religious people in America. In five surveys conducted last year, 74 percent of blacks rated religion as "very important" in their lives, while among all Americans, only 55 percent said they regarded religion as "very important." Six years ago, Gallup asked people in 23 nations to rank the importance of God in their lives, with 10 the top score. American blacks recorded the highest score: 9.04.
