The Murraylink Transmission Co., a 50/50 joint venture of the Australian arm of TransEnergie (a Hydro Quebec subsidiary) and the Canadian builder SNC-Lavalin, has captured another award for its Murraylink interconnector (Figure 6), the world's longest underground high-voltage power line. In August, the firm won The Engineering South Australia Award 2003. Last year, the project, which went live in mid-year, earned the 2002 Case EARTH Award for Environmental Excellence for best practice and innovation in the environmental management of civil construction projects.
