GETTING boys interested in reading for pleasure can be an uphillstruggle for parents and teachers.

At home, books compete with the television, DVDs and computer games, while manyboys are switched off by 'girlfriendly' texts in the classroom.

But a growing number of children's authors ranging from J. K.Rowling to AnthonyHorowitz are tearing boys away from the remote control.
