It's called "A Gathering of Old Men," and it is, more than that, a gathering of rich and diverse talents, behind the camera and in front of it. Louis Gossett Jr. and Richard Widmark star in this TV movie set in the Louisiana bayou. Gossett is Mathu, an old black man who has shot a white, and Widmark is the sheriff who comes to the killing scene. There, a group of old black men have gathered at the behest of Mathu's friend Candy (Holly Hunter) to shield Mathu by claiming, each in turn, to have done the shooting.
