The vogue for using list headings as titles, as in "Eighteen Ways You Can Thrill Your Lover While He's Trying to Watch the Game," much predates today's screamers on magazine covers. Miss Manners seems to remember a variety of eye-catching books with such titles as "365 Ways to Cook Hamburger" and "Dozens of New Uses for Old Worn Pillowcases."
