Two years ago today, what began as a routine police pursuit in the middle of the night ended with the brutal beating and arrest of black motorist Rodney G. King. Unknown to King or the white Los Angeles police officers who subdued him, much of the incident was videotaped by an amateur cameraman awakened by the noise of a police helicopter.
