Chapter 31 Summary

Maya and her father arrive home and Dolores is sitting in the same place. Dolores fights with her father, accusing him of allowing his children come between them. She is angry when she sees Maya wearing her father's jacket. He explains that she was cold and he couldn't let her freeze. During the argument, he tells Dolores that Maya thinks she is a pretentious bitch. Dolores tells him she wants to marry him, but not his children. Dad leaves to visit the neighbors. Maya feels bad for Dolores and decides to apologize. Dolores accuses her of eavesdropping and tells her to go home. Maya tells Dolores that Vivian is better than her. Dolores calls Vivian a whore and Maya slaps her. They get into a fight and Maya runs from the house, bleeding.....
