Description

Michael Dorsey is a struggling actor who can't seem to get a job no matter how hard he tries. He ends up teaching acting classes to other struggling actors as he waits for his agent to find him a job. One night he helps his friend, Sandy, prepare for an audition, and she comments that he makes a better woman than she does. After she is turned down for a role the next day, Michael meets with his agent, George Fields. He is told that he cannot get a job in town because he is notoriously difficult to work with.

Michael becomes angry, dresses up as a woman, and wins the role that Sandy auditioned for. Michael is now Dorothy Michaels, the famous star of a daytime soap. As a woman, he becomes friends with his colleague, Julie Nichols...
