Throughout The Princess Bride, the saying, "As you wish" reoccurs as we watch the young couple they fall in love and later reunited after a long absence. When we first hear the phrase "As you wish," the farm boy, Westley, is using it to answer Buttercup when she requests that he do something for her.
After many years, Buttercup finally realizes that when Westley is saying, "As you wish," he is not just conceding to her request but rather professing his love. After this realization, Buttercup realizes that she loves Westley too. The two profess their love although Westley is a poor boy. He decides to go and make something of himself so that he will be worthy of Buttercup.
Buttercup hears the news that Westley's ship has been captured.....
