Importance of Freedom

Above all else, Princess Ann runs away to seek freedom. Throughout her life, Ann has been kept away from the normal world as she has been surrounded by the royal family and soldiers. She cannot even imagine a normal day where she could walk along the street alone eating ice cream, or meet a man in a shop and go dancing with him at night.

The first night in Rome, Ann watches the couples dancing on the barge and realizes that she is missing out on the best things life offers. She throws a fit to try to convince the Countess that she needs her freedom, but her plan backfires when the doctor arrives and simply gives her drugs to calm her down. Many of the people helping her do.....
