We see that their prayers are going up to God, and Joseph and God discuss sending down someone for George. Joseph is told to send the clockmaker Clarence even if he is odd. Clarence asks whether the man is sick, but God says, "Worse. He's discouraged." Clarence is told that at 10:45 p.m., this man will be considering giving up his life, and his job is to get to know Bailey and help him realize that his life is worth so much.
