Many people have heard stories from their parents and grandparents growing up; they understand that sometimes truth and fiction become so closely related that they cannot be told apart, even by the storytellers themselves. Will goes through this experience with his father, Ed, who has been telling tall stories all Will's life, or at least when Ed was around.

Now that Ed is dying, Will is committed to finding out the truth. He begins to ask questions of everyone around so that he can discover the truth. When he meets Jenny, Will finally learns where his father was all those years and all the wonderful things he did for others.
