Story-telling Techniques in "Stand by Me"

Summary: In the film "Stand By Me" by Rob Reiner, flashbacks and voice-over narration were two main techniques used to tell the story.
The movie Stand By Me used various techniques. For example flashbacks to show how much young Gordie missed and thought about his brother, Dennis and also used light technique to made people feel warmth. Lastly voice over to remind as that the movie was set in the past to contributed to the overall impact.

Flashbacks were the most used technique in the movie. Most of the movie was a flashback from the point of view of twelve year old Gordie, which is from the memory of adult Gordie in 1985. Also there were flashbacks inside the flashbacks. For example there were scenes where Gordie thought about his dead brother, Dennis, for example, it was when Dennis gave him the cap.
