Means of Control in the Chinese Communist Revolution

Summary:   Mao Zedong used propaganda and the loyalty of Chinese youth to maintain totalitarian rule in China. The Chinese people were easily manipulated because of their poor educations, and the Red Guards were merciless and efficient in quelling opposition to the Communist government.


The essence of the Chinese Communist Revolution was led by the prospects of a permanent totalitarian authority under Mao Zedong. One key goal Mao strived to achieve was a society without classes. This goal offered much failure, because ultimately it was just unattainable. Throughout his struggle to achieve both a maintained totalitarian power and execute a government ruled exactly as he pleased, Mao had executed many different unique strategies and tactics. The chief strategies used to preserve totalitarian authority in China were propaganda and Chinese youth.

Propaganda was a vital piece of persuasion during the Chinese Communist Revolution used to maintain totalitarian rule. Due to signs, speeches, word-of-mouth, propaganda influenced not only the youth, but the majority of Chinese society into believing that communism was good. However, this was misleading because the revolution to a country.....
