Summary: Ralph faces many challenges and difficulties in `The Lord of The Flies' and in my opinion deals with them very well. Some of the challenges he comes up against require on the spot solutions to resolve the matters, and he succeeds which I think shows he is a good leader.
Ralph faces many challenges and difficulties in `The Lord of The Flies' and in my opinion deals with them very well. Some of the challenges he comes up against require on the spot solutions to resolve the matters, and he succeeds which I think shows he is a good leader. Right from the start of the book he is challenged and I think he was right to be chosen leader of the island.

The first major problem he has to deal with was doing something with Jack who was as surprised as he was angry and frustrated at losing the vote and missed out his chance on becoming chief. We can tell this from the following quote:
