Steven Biko had been one of the many black people faced discrimination. Biko faced discrimination in many ways such as being emotionally stressed, politically harmed, and physically tortured. As a result discrimination destroyed lives of many black African people including Biko's.

Steven Biko was emotionally stressed with all the discrimination he had been through. Biko didn't like that he was not accepted as a person just because he had different skin colour. One of Biko meeting he did bring the "person" topic and said "who are I? Who are we? The fundamental answer we give to this: people are people so the Black consciousness says forget about the colour."
